How To Make Your Electric Fireplace The Focal Point of Your Room?

It's a lesson in design of all kinds to have a focus point, whether it's a logo or a painting. Things should be able to blend in with the background and stand out in different ways. It's the same with interior design.

It might be difficult to know where to focus in open-concept houses. Certain areas naturally attract attention, such as the kitchen island or the area we arranged in front of the living room television. It's simple to make other underutilized areas the focal point of your room and to do it in a way that instantly communicates to your visitors who you are and what matters to you.

For instance, placing a fireplace as the focal point of your house can greatly improve the ambiance and visual appeal of the area. Let the fireplace become the focal point of your design, whether you're building a new or upgrading an existing one.

Here are some tips for creating the ideal fireplace.

Pay attention to the surroundings.

The surround—the area surrounding the fireplace—can have a big impact on how it looks. To create a focal point that matches and attracts the eye, think about incorporating materials like stone, tile, brick, or wood.

To truly make an effect, take into account proportions when making a statement. A floor-to-ceiling surround grabs attention and makes it obvious where the center of the house is at all times.

Add a mantlepiece.

In addition to adding visual interest to the space, a mantel above the fireplace can serve as a platform for ornamental objects, pictures, or artwork. Select a mantel design that accentuates the fireplace as the main focal point and blends in with the overall style of your design.

Consider the effects of a full mantel vs a mantel shelf on your design. Certain designs could just require a mantel shelf to distinguish the area in a more understated setting. However, a complete mantel with a shelf and legs would be a better fit in a classic environment.

Use lighting to highlight.

To light up the space and draw attention to the fireplace, install lighting fixtures like sconces or recessed lights next to or above it. Candles and LED strip lights are further options for creating ambiance and coziness.

To improve the ambiance in your room, choose a wall-mounted electric fireplace with a variety of lighting options, such as ember bed lighting, backlighting, flame color selections, etc.

Make symmetry.

Symmetrical arrangements can make a fireplace look better and become the room's main point. Place pieces of furniture, decorations, or other items that match on either side of the fireplace to make the room look balanced and draw attention to the middle of it.

Accessorize with care.

Add carefully chosen items to the fireplace mantel and hearth, like vases, sculptures, candles, or mirrors. Set them up in a way that looks good to make the fireplace stand out and become the center of attention.

You could draw more attention to the area by adding tools, screens, andirons, and doors to the fireplace. You could also try putting trim around your fireplace to make it stand out.

Make it workable.

If you already have a stove that isn't being used, you might want to make it work again. Dancing flames make a great focal point for a seating setup or a place to talk. Set up the furniture around the fireplace to make it feel warm and cozy, which will encourage people to hang out and unwind.

If you want to use your fireplace again without all the trouble of burning wood or keeping up with gas, an electric fireplace insert is the best way to do it.

Play around with color.

Change the color of the wall behind the fireplace to make it stand out and draw attention to the space. Bold or clashing colors can make a dramatic focal point, while soft colors can help the fireplace fit in with the rest of the room's style.

You might also want to pick a color for your fire spot. There are a lot of bright colors to choose from in our beautiful Country Living stoves that are sure to stand out.

Add some artwork.

To make a striking center point, hang art above the fireplace. Pick pieces that go with the room's style and color scheme and also give it some personality and visual interest.

If you want to put the TV above the fireplace, get a new one that shows pictures that look like art. You can change your art whenever you want, and the TV will be useful too.
